Haut(bois) off the Press: Welcome to My Blog!

ree

Hello! I'm Lindsey Stein, a professional oboist living and working in Boston. When not practicing, making reeds, performing, and teaching, I still think about the oboe......

After playing oboe for over 20 years, the oboe has come to feel like an extension of myself. And, being the unquenchably curious fiend I am, I of course had to learn everything I possibly could about it.

That being said, this blog will be an attempt at accumulating these oboe facts and musings in the same place. I hope to make a hub of information for oboists looking to better themselves and their music.

Trying to organize my information has proven to be....monumental.....so to makes things easier on myself, I've decided to release individual topics weekly through a blog.

Though the topics will range widely from Music History, to Oboe Manufacturing, or new oboe model releases, I also plan to include material related to the topics below:

Oboes + Extended Techniques

Multiphonic Fingering Chart

Flutter Tongue Singing while playing Double Trills Gliss + Pitch Bends Tips + Tricks

Oboes + Geography

Oboe Tone Differences Reed Making Techniques Wood Choices Oboe Model Comparisons

Oboes + Auditions

Upcoming Oboe Audition Dates Resources for Orchestral Excerpts How to Dress for an Audition How to talk During an Interview Tips + Tricks
